BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF WOMENSPACE APPOINTS

NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER  

Julie Weismann to lead non-profit in their 40th year with

over fifteen years in leadership  

February 17, 2017, Eugene, OR: Effective March 1, Julie Weismann, will operate as Chief Executive Officer of Womenspace, the primary domestic and intimate partner violence agency in Lane County celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

In the new role as CEO, Julie will lead a staff of 40 who provide quality care to approximately 5,000 adults and children annually.  Services include a 24-hour crisis line, a confidential safe house, crisis and support services, rural programs, support groups, economic empowerment training, school-based programs aimed at prevention and community engagement and education. Julie will also be responsible for raising the visibility of Womenspace and increasing donor support. She will have her first public opportunity to do so at the 40th Anniversary Dinner on May 10th at the Eugene Hilton.

“Throughout her career, Julie has demonstrated visionary leadership and pragmatic management skills, spearheaded improvements in performance, and championed innovative approaches to meet client needs. She has proven to possess an inspirational and unwavering commitment to assisting vulnerable populations which directly aligns with Womenspace’s core values and mission,” says Mary Bartlett, Womenspace Board President.   

Prior to Womenspace, Julie was the Development Director of Cascades Raptor Center, CEO and President of Hi-Tech Lamps, Inc., Founding Board President of Girlstart in Austin Texas, and has held other leadership positions with nonprofits in Texas and California. In these careers, and in her tireless work with the LGBTQIA community, Julie transformed organizations, developed and implemented inclusive and dynamic strategic plans, lobbied legislators, and testified in committees. She has a Masters Certificate of Nonprofit Management and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science with a Nonprofit Administration Minor, both from the University of Oregon.
