The Future of Work is Diverse, Inclusive, Just and Equitable

GlobalMindED closes the equity gap by creating a capable, diverse talent pipeline through connections to role models, mentors, internships for low-income students, returning adults, First Gen to college and inclusive leaders who teach them, work with them and hire them.
New CEO of Twitter and GlobalMindED 2021 Inclusive Leader Award Recipient: Congratulations to Linda Yaccarino

We could not be more proud of Linda Yaccarino who will now take the helm at Twitter. Her outstanding career, most recently at NBC Universal and her consistent, generous leadership will likely right the ship at Twitter after choppy seas before her arrival. And, hats off to Elon Musk for knowing when to step aside and let someone with the experience, passion, know-how and inclusive leadership track record take Twitter to new heights. She will open doors not only for Twitter employees and the community but for women and diverse leaders of all backgrounds.  Here is an except from her introduction and acceptance speech in 2021:

You could say there’s no one like our winner, but in fact, she’s an identical twin. One of three sisters, she grew up in an Italian family on Long Island. Her father, the chief of police, instilled in his girls a strong moral compass. Her mother insisted her daughters go to college and be financially independent. All three did just that. She has rallied her teams to win at every level— launching Peacock to the Olympics, creating #ShesMy to celebrate the powerful women in our lives, and bringing her entire company together as One Platform.

At NBCUniversal, she’s paved the way for a new generation of ad leaders; supporting mentorships for women and people of color, returnships for parents reentering the workforce, residencies for Veterans, and opportunities for folks whose drive speaks louder than any line on their resume. Through it all, she stayed true to the values her parents instilled in her. With warmth and humor, she’ll welcome you to the family table with her husband Claude, and their two kids, Christian and Matthew. It’s a table where everyone’s included. It is my honor to introduce this year’s winner—Linda Yaccarino.

Linda Yaccarino's 2021 Inclusive Leader Award Acceptance Speech:

"Thank you to everyone at GlobalMindED for this honor. I was thinking about this award. And I remembered a quote by a former SNL staffer named Dean Obeidallah that I think speaks to the significance of this honor, and really the mission of this wonderful organization. “More diversity equals better comedy.” Now of course, it’s not just better comedy… or better movies… or better news.

More diversity, makes everything better. And as GlobalMindED has always championed: more diversity also equals better businesses. When you fill that big, family table with people from every walk of life… that’s how we create more innovation. It’s how we turn innovation, into transformation. Every day this industry continues to pull up more chairs. And we need to keep working so that trend continues—and accelerates.

  • Making sure more women are responsible for revenue—AND running the business.
  • That more people of color sit in writers rooms—AND board rooms
  • That members of the veteran, LGBTQ and disability communities shape the stories we tell, and the business decisions behind them.

If we invest our time and resources in the Mentorships and Returnships and Partnerships that help people succeed—then we can scale diversity at every level. That’s how we transform our culture within this entire industry. I’m so proud to accept this award…and to continue this work alongside all of you. Thank you." Join us for a Premier Screening of "Beyond Their Years" at GlobalMindED Thursday evening, June 8, 2023!
Herb Carnegie and Buck O’Neil, two social justice icons that blazed a trail in sport and changed the world.

Herb Carnegie (Hockey) and Buck O’Neil (Baseball) were trailblazers but were nonetheless
excluded from playing in the highest professional leagues of the sports they loved because of their race. Instead of becoming angry and bitter, they channeled the injustice they both experienced into pioneering work that made their respective sports, and the world, more inclusive.

“Beyond Their Years” captures the effort put forth by amazing allies of all races who worked in unison towards the long overdue recognition of these two remarkable lives. The film will tie together their legacies and what they mean today in a verité style feature that teaches, heals and humanizes.
