Martin Luther King Jr. Day is observed on the third Monday in January.

President Ronald Reagan signed a bill on November 2, 1983, creating a federal holiday in Dr. King’s honor.

Covered California Open Enrollment Now Through

January 31, 2026

Californians can now sign up, renew, or shop for health insurance plans through Covered California during the open-enrollment period, which runs until January 31, 2026.

Many individuals benefit from Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies, also known as premium tax credits, which help lower the cost of health insurance premiums for those purchasing plans through the Health Insurance Marketplace.

In California, this marketplace is Covered California. However, these enhanced subsidies are scheduled to expire at the end of 2025. The premium amount shown on renewal or enrollment forms reflects the net cost (premium minus subsidy) if the enhanced credits expire as planned.

Covered California offers free, confidential enrollment assistance through certified agents and community organizations. Consumers are encouraged to call (800) 300-1506 for help or visit below for more information.
