Volume 21 | January 9, 2019
The Acts of the Apostles
This month, along with many from our church, we will begin a study of the book of Acts. How did the same scared disciples from the gospels build up the early church and therefore transform the world? And what is our part in the same story? We hope our Sabbath Schools and vespers provide opportunities to grow both collectively and individually as we study from the New Testament.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Acts 1:8 NIV
Youth Look Back on 2018 Together
As we do each year, the youth group enjoyed our first vespers of the new year by looking back on all we did together the year before. The Allred family provided a wonderful home and meal (crepe bar!) for the youth, who caught each other up on how their breaks and holidays had been before settling in for worship. After singing, the youth got to look at over 600 photos from 2018. Statements of, "Oh yeah!" and "That was so fun!" often accompanied the pictures--as did our new friend, Henry. It was the perfect start to 2019.

Sabbath School Report
This past Sabbath, the youth connected with each other through "New Year's Speed Dating," sharing with various people their favorite memories, moments, trips, and lessons from 2018. They followed that by sharing with each other their current excitements, stresses, and hopes for growth in the new year. Afterwards, they spent time writing letters to their future selves on how they wish to grow in 2019, only to be seen again in twelve months from now--an annual Calimesa Youth tradition. All of this was preceded by a delicious breakfast from the Wilsons and Ellers. We hope to see you this weekend!
