In the heart of Downtown Concord, you’ll find Press & Porter, a coffee shop that’s more than just a place to grab your morning brew. Founded by Anna and Emily, sisters and lifelong Concord residents, this cozy spot has become a cornerstone of the community.

As the leaves begin to change, so does the literary landscape in Cabarrus County, with two exciting author events on the horizon. Whether you're a fan of gripping mysteries or love engaging in community discussions, these events are not to be missed.


Community Read Event (Oct 3rd): Join Cabarrus County Libraries for a community-wide reading of Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger, featuring an author talk and book signing in Kannapolis.


Murder Mystery Tour (Nov 9th): Attend the National Book Tour for An Author's Guide to Murder with “Team W” authors, including a meet-and-greet and a copy of the book at the Mt. Pleasant Public Library.

Downtown Districts Kick Off Special Events

Downtown Concord is launching Love Local Thursdays this week on Sept 5th, with businesses staying open late and offering specials. This event will continue on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month for a fun night out of dining, shopping, and fun.


Looking for something for Friday nights? Downtown Kannapolis is kicking off its first Friday Night Live on Sept 6th on West A Street featuring the Ace Party Band and lots of amazing vendors.

The Cabarrus Arts Council’s Fall Art Walk is taking place on Saturday, Sept 7th from 11am-4pm on Barbrick Ave. SW and Market St. SW. This all-day arts festival features artists and makers to sell their handmade artwork. Stop by the Cabarrus Arts Council as well to see their free current exhibition, Roots/Raices.
