A message from Cindy:
"Hi, I’m Cindy Garcia and I a thrilled to be a part of the Beyond Team. I have been a nurse for over 25 years and am the Assistant Director of Care in a long term care facility. I found yoga at a time in my life when my body and mind were broken. Yoga helped me to repair my mind, body and spirit. My hobbies are gardening, soap making and creating natural body products. I am the proud mother of 2 sons and 2 fur babies."

Prenatal Yoga
with Melanie Brown
Prenatal yoga helps to build strength, improve circulation, regulate breathing, opens energy channels and harmonizes the relationship and functioning of body, mind and breath.

Virtual Meditation: Exploring our Unique Nature
with Kimberly Mantas
We are each born with a unique nature or character. In Sanskrit, the concept of one’s “own character or nature” is termed svarupa. We yearn to know ourselves and live authentically. Through this series we will embrace our incredible uniqueness and move toward joy on our own path.

Balance for Life
with Alison Tait
This safe and slower-moving class is designed for people who want to improve their balance but might have some physical challenges, be recovering from an injury, or just realize that their ability to balance has changed over time.
Dates: Thursdays, January 13th to 27th
Time: 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 P.M.
Restore and Align
with Michael Fahey
We begin with the breath, always, the very basis of our yoga practice. We will then focus on strengthening the respiratory system and the deep core muscles. The legs and lower back will feel so wonderfully stretched and strengthened. To finish this practice there will be chanting and meditation.

Beat the Winter Blues Day Retreat
with Glenda, Brian and Julie
Your five-hour experience will include:
• a gentle warming flow practice;
• discussion of the impact of the winter season on our mental health and strategies to beat the winter blues including breathwork, affirmation and a take-home meditation practice;
• a 90 minute Yin Yoga with Reiki practice;
• a Yoga Nidra (guided relaxation) Sound Bath with the Crystal Bowls

Calm Kids Yoga Teacher Training
with Laura Fowler Massie ECE, M.ed., RCYT
Parents, educators and yoga teachers alike will all benefit from this specialized training. In this course participants learn how yoga helps children develop skills that support self-regulation, body awareness, focus and concentration. Through the use of games, songs, storytelling and a supportive, interactive learning environment, participants will learn specific tools, and teaching techniques they can use immediately with the children in their lives.

Yin Yoga Teacher Training

Who will benefit from Yin Yoga Teacher Training?

Teachers, students and anyone wanting to deepen their practice, refine their teaching skills and learn more about the benefits of this quiet practice.

As we age, the flexibility in our joints can decrease. Yin yoga is a great way to maintain or improve that flexibility. This practice allows you the time to notice and feel the different physical and emotional sensations, while also adding a meditative aspect to your practice.

Gentle Yoga for Active Aging Teacher Training
with Carole Houde and Anita Findlay
This intensive program will provide the knowledge and tools to help you create safe, accessible, and appropriate Gentle Yoga classes for active aging. You will be given insight into the aging process and its impact on the body so that you can provide adaptations as needed. You will be able to focus on creating a Gentle Yoga practice that allows for continued functionality, strength and independence which can be transferred to Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s).

Chai Cookie Recipe
Tis the season
  • 1 cup coconut flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 3/4 cup virgin coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 3 chai teabags steeped, in 1/2 cup boiling water - cooled
  • 4 tbsp maple syrup

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Boil water and steep tea in 1/2 cup of boiling water for 7 to 11 minutes
  3. Add chia seed to small bowl with 5 tbsp water. Stir and let sit for five minutes
  4. Mix all dry ingredients
  5. In a separate bowl mix wet ingredients
  6. Mix all ingredients
  7. Using a tablespoon drop the batter on the baking sheet greased with coconut oil
  8. Bake for 15 minutes in preheated oven 
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a plate 
Don't underestimate the simplicity and list of healthy ingredients;
these cookies are DELICIOUS!
