Meditation is a self-care practice that allows us to quiet our minds, calm our physical bodies, and go within to reach a heightened level of awareness. This three-part class looks at the art, the history the science, and the magic of meditation from three unique perspectives. You will become adept at your meditation practice, which is essential for tapping into our intuitive and psychic abilitites.

In Part 1, with 20 year Psychic Intuitive Diana Friedell, you will learn about the states of consciousness, mantras and mudras, what scientific benefits we receive, as well as tips and techniques to smoothly slip into a meditative state.

I would like to begin by revisiting the 23rd of December. That was a Super New Moon that also had a 7

planet/asteroid Stellium in Capricorn. Chiron turned direct in Aries. The North Node was sextile Chiron, and the master number 11 was activated as well. It was one of the most astrologically powerful single days I've come across. So what happened, or started on that day?

A massive storm that swept across the entire United States began on this day. It was still active through Christmas day, with more snow falling for another two days. Sadly, it has resulted in the loss of life. There is another result, however, that is not all devastation.

Much was discussed in the SETH books, channeled by Jane Roberts, in the 1970's regarding the connection between the weather and collective human emotion. Strong storms serve to "wash away" the dross of our energetic emanations. It is a dynamic, cooperative, very necessary arrangement between us and the planet that we count on for our existence. 

I will suggest that this day, this extremely powerful alignment of heavenly bodies and a matching massive storm, was evidence that the partnership does not stop at the edge of our upper atmosphere. The storms are challenging to deal with, but are part of a larger plan. I can see a pattern in the energies that can be of great benefit in 2023 and 2024. That will be discussed further in the 2023 preview on zoom on Jan 5th, and in future columns as we go forward.

ASTROLOGY FORECAST (Jan 1- 8)

VENUS and PLUTO are conjunct in Capricorn at 28° and 29° respectively on New Year's Day. This can illustrate the extremes from divine to perverse, highlighting the choice as to which path any individual wishes to take in 2023 and in subsequent years. Helping out is a sextile angle to JUPITER in Aries to both VENUS and PLUTO. The sextile of Jupiter in Aries adds opportunity for exciting new ventures to one's choice. This is a nice alignment for the day we tend to "look forward."

The next day, 1/02, VENUS moves into Aquarius until 1/26. Venus in this placement has an electric quality to its expression. The attention tends to be more expansive and is group oriented. What is good for the whole, the masses? What is beautiful, graceful, and elegant across broad expanses?

This is joined by asteroid Lilith moving into Leo from 1/8 until 1/22. Lilith is the dynamic, powerful feminine who will have her day and own her power, and she is tired of waiting. In Leo this is even more pronounced. Do not be surprised if women's issues become very visible during January.

The Full Moon falls on 1/06 at 6:08 pm EST in Cancer. See another pattern? The rising Feminine. Cancer and the Moon are nurturing, flowing, mothering energies. On this day there are two wedge aspects present with the Full Moon. 

A wedge is when two planets in opposition are joined by a 3rd planet forming a trine to one and a sextile to the other. It is referred to as the apex planet. It provides an outlet, or release, to the stress that the opposition present at each Full Moon creates. 

The first apex planet is NEPTUNE at 22° Pisces. This will add strength to anything mystical or magical that may come into your awareness. The second apex planet is URANUS at 15° Taurus. That is the Point of Avatar. This is one of the 4 Cosmic windows, or portals. These two apex planets along with all of the feminine influence points toward a much more beneficial life for Earth and all of her inhabitants if we will choose it.

Anyone will do well to flow with all of this feminine essence beckoning for your attention. BALANCE is sought in all. We all have both poles expressed within our psyche. Resistance to necessary changes will make your journey much more difficult. Whatever is unbalanced within society and the individual will seek equilibrium. 

VENUS, LILITH, and the MOON are offering to be your guides at this time. May your 2023 be wonderful.

ASTROLOGY FORECAST (Jan 9 -16)

A retrograde of any planet or calculated point is not actually backward motion. It is an APPEARANCE of backward motion. The opportunity is for revision, restructuring, redesigning, etc. of the themes of the planet, sign, and house, activated by the retrograde. The outer planets have very long retrograde intervals. They last for months every year and we become quite well acquainted with their effects.  Mercury and Venus are more frequent and shorter in duration. Mercury retrogrades are somewhat famous and much is written about them. Curiously, Mars goes retrograde the least often of any planet. It also has relatively long hiatus from normal motion compared to the other personal planets. 

This makes MARS retrograde a bit more confusing than most of the other planets. We are not accustomed to it, and it lasts awhile. 

MARS resumes direct motion on 1/12/23 in Gemini. The fiery red planet first moved into Gemini on 8/20/22. Its retrograde, begun on 10/30/22, is now ending. MARS will be finishing an unusually long trip in Gemini on 3/25/23. 

Gemini is a neutral placement for Mars. The challenge can be finding too many places to focus that drive and strength that is natural to Mars. Gemini is very active and mentally stimulating in many different areas. Gemini is well known for seeing all sides of a subject. This is not comfortable for Mars, whose energy likes to manifest more like a laser than a floodlight. Retrograde motion makes the interval even more confusing, but it also exposes one's passions and drive to more information. 

This can become an advantage if the mind has been changed during the retrograde. Once forward motion has resumed the natural strength of MARS can then be very helpful to bring in new creations. Therein lies the strength of this particular retrograde interval. 

MUCH is changing and now Mars energy can be deployed toward the best expression of each individual's choices. That is a useful way to work with Mars, for all people. We all need to summon the native strength of the red planet sometimes.

Asteroid JUNO moves into Aries on 1/13, joining Jupiter and Chiron. JUNO is in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. She is associated with long term relationships. Traditionally, that has meant marriage, organizations, and business partners requiring commitment. Last Summer I suggested that it be expanded to include your most important long term relationship - the one you have with yourself.

Now, along with Jupiter, Juno is beginning a new circuit of the zodiac. She will have the Aries fire element at her disposal to implement everything she learned on the previous cycle. This is a time when taking care of yourself first allows you to be of better service in all ways. JUNO is about wisdom and loyalty, which now may be applied where such traits are most likely to flourish, rather than being bestowed blindly. If those relationships have delivered wounds, CHIRON, the Wounded Healer, is also in Aries and can help find a way toward equilibrium.

URANUS and the NORTH NODE have been within an arc of conjunction since last May. I am mentioning this now because they are in their last month in this aspect before separating in mid- February.

This combination has been in Taurus. The theme has been finding a way to stretch your abilities and soul growth in ways you hoped to achieve when this life contract was first planned. The emphasis is in an Earth sign that is also about abundance/true value, possessions, and determination. 

URANUS has been on, or near, the Point of Avatar in Taurus much of this time. This planet is about sudden changes, rebellion, originality, and can provide great resourcefulness. 

Hopefully you have been taking advantage of this long term alignment to plan, and begin, the next steps of your journey. You still have time to refine your ideas further. This will be time well spent before some of the significant changes coming in 2023 begin.

Be confident and courageous. You can do it!
