Learning Through Making a Mini-Golf Course
Where do ideas come from? How can you convey your idea to others? What do you need to move an idea to a plan? When do you deviate from the plan?

A new collaboration between John Jay's engineering students and Increase Miller Elementary's fifth graders used designing mini-golf obstacles together as a platform for thinking through questions like these.

Students Step and Spin into Medieval History
Sixth graders danced the "Epping Forest," "Jenny Pluck Pears," "Sellenger's Round," and more accompanied by live flute and drum this week with medieval historians John and Sondra Bromka.

The experience enlivened their interdisciplinary study of the book "Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! Voices from a Medieval Village" by Laura Amy Schlitz through the lenses of customs, folklore, symbolism, music, and dance.
John Jay Joins the Unified Sports Movement
John Jay High School is now one of the 4,500+ elementary, middle and high schools in the United States that is participating in Unified Sports. The concept joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team.

“Our practices and our games are full of excitement, kindness, and genuine joy,” said Assistant Principal and Coach Kim Piccolino.
