Session 4 of SCDRP's new workshop series entitled Pathways to Resilience: Learning from Leaders, Connecting with Peers is Friday, July 11 at 12 pm.
This series, which is an extension of the SCDRP Mentorship Program, will provide students, early career professionals, and others who are new to the field of resilience with an opportunity to learn from experts in the field (mentors) in a virtual small group setting. Renew NC Single Family Housing Program: Applications now open!
The Renew NC Single-Family Housing Program is a centralized housing rehabilitation, reconstruction or replacement program. Homeowners in Buncombe and other eligible counties in Western North Carolina can apply for funds to repair or rebuild homes that were damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Helene. Prioritization will be given to low-to-moderate income (LMI) families with seniors aged 62 and older, children, and/or disabled household members.

Heather McCarthy's last day with SCDRP was June 30th. Heather has been the Executive Director of SCDRP for the past 3 years. Under Heather's leadership, SCDRP experienced significant membership growth, embarked on exciting new initiatives, and organized the largest Annual Meetings in SCDRP's history. We are deeply grateful for Heather's strong leadership and deep commitment to collaboration. Claire McGrath, SCDRP's Program Coordinator since May 2024, is stepping into the role of SCDRP Director, effective July 1st. Claire is excited to serve the Partnership and continue Heather's work of fostering collaboration for a more resilient Southeast and Caribbean!

Restoring Our Relatives Grant, First Nations Institute
The Restoring Our Relatives project will invest in the reciprocal relationships, traditional knowledge, and stewardship that cultivate biodiversity and healthy ecosystems through the protection and restoration of Native species that will, in turn, protect our lands, waters, and ecosystems for generations to come. First Nations is accepting applications for projects that aim to grow capacity and programming to employ and sustain efforts that restore Native species through traditional knowledge and community involvement. First Nations expects to award up to 15 grants between $25,000 to $50,000 to eligible Tribes and Native-led organizations.

The CO2 Foundation: Reducing the Threats of Extreme Weather Events
The CO2 Foundation seeks proposals to support timely interventions for extreme weather and/or prepare communities for the impacts of a rapidly changing climate system. Funded activities may include:
Conferences & Workshops: Convening diverse stakeholders to amplify and improve upon their best efforts.
Research: Digging deep into the most promising strategies to address alarming trends and build toward a positive future.
Communications: Broadly distributed storytelling about extreme weather impacts, reporting on community-scale and society-wide responses and future risks, or new communication methods or audiences.
Pilot Project Implementation: Move what has been imagined out into the world with a focus on co-benefits, project sustainability/durability, and replicating what works.

Just Added: 2026 Christine Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program, The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
This fellowship is a full-time, hands-on workforce training and educational program that provides early career individuals with the opportunity to spend 12 weeks at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in Washington, DC learning about science and technology policy and the role that scientists and engineers play in advising the nation. Each year, new Mirzayan Fellows join a National Academies unit where they are assigned to a mentor and learn about the world of science and technology policy. The Mirzayan Fellowship provides a stipend of $11,000 to offset living expenses during the Fellowship period and covers roundtrip transportation expenses. The Fellowship takes place March-May 2026.

FSG/Guy Harvey Fellowship 2026
This program is for graduate students at Florida universities who are conducting research that will help support the sustainable management of marine fish. Up to eight fellowships of $5,000 each will be awarded as a research stipend. Qualifying fellows may receive up to $1,500 in additional travel and professional development funds after the initial award, determined based upon need and opportunity. As part of a fellowship cohort, selected fellows will have the opportunity to share their work with the greater Sea Grant network and Guy Harvey Foundation through Florida Sea Grant’s Communications Team.

Spanish Translation of ReduceFloodRisk.org
Just in time for hurricane season, ASFPM has launched a Spanish translation of its website, ReduceFloodRisk.org. Launched in 2022, ReduceFloodRisk.org helps property owners, particularly those in flood-prone areas, understand their flood risk and the most effective flood mitigation strategies for their particular property. This Spanish translation will bring the ReduceFloodRisk.org decision-making engine to the nation's 41 million Spanish-speaking residents.

Call for Papers - Co-production and Coastal Resilience Collection in Estuaries and Coasts - NOAA RESTORE Science Program
The NOAA RESTORE Science Program has partnered with researchers from Florida State University and the RESTORE Act Center of Excellence for Louisiana to propose a special collection on co-production and coastal resilience in the journal Estuaries and Coasts. The submission window for the collection is now open through August 31, 2025.
The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) is seeking applicants and internship partners for the new Professional Science Master (PSM) degree as part of UVI’s Marine and Environmental Science program (MMES).
NOAA’s Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS) is gathering input from users of tidal datums and coastal tools, like flood forecasting models and inundation maps, on the upcoming National Tidal Datum Epoch (NTDE) update. This quick, 3-minute survey will help NOAA understand how these changes may affect coastal practitioners and guide the creation of resources to better support communities facing coastal flooding and other challenges. Your feedback will be valuable in shaping tools to meet the needs of those working along our coasts.
