Summer 2017

,

We were encouraged to see our lunch and dinner service "numbers" decrease  this summer
as more guests found work in the spring and summer.  That said,  the  challenge for our
guests  will be to find steady work and sustained income throughout  the fall and winter seasons.

In an effort to help them find employment, New Covenant Center will offer time in  our
amped-up computer lab, which will include seven work stations. NCC Food Pantry volunteer
Carl Funch (with the help of more volunteers, we hope!)  will teach our guests classes in both
Introduction to  Computers  and   Microsoft Word. Our guests will also  be able to use our  printer
for resumes.

This initiative will start  September 19th. The next phase will be teaching these job seekers
how  to write resumes and  leverage  the  internet to look for employment. If you're  interested  in volunteering  (and if you speak Spanish or Creole, that would be terrific),  please contact
David Lovegreen,  our Volunteer Coordinator at dlovegreen@ccfc-ct.org   or  203-964-8228, ext. 416.

We hope y ou have a fun and safe
Labor Day weekend!

New Covenant received a $10,000 grant award from The Community Fund of Darien
this summer. NCC Advisory Board Chairman Ed Kearns was thrilled to accept this generous donation  (as you can see from the smile on this face!)

Many thanks to The Community Fund of Darien for its support of New Covenant Center!

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL FOOD DRIVE AT LaROCCA'S COUNTRY MARKET

The shoppers at  LaRocca's Country Market donated sixty bags of food
and  over $150 in cash  during a food drive this July. Many thanks to NCC Advisory Board member  Paul Fairleigh for organizing this drive and the LaRocca's Country Market team  for
letting us set up our tables outside this very popular market in  North Stamford.
Last but  certainly not least, we'd like to thank  the shoppers who spent extra money to buy
much   needed  items for our Food Pantry.

Let's do it again soon!

Wow! LaRocca's Country Market in Stamford hosted another successful food drive outside their North Stamford store.

FREEZER FRENZY!

New Covenant Center has been going through storage and refrigeration/freezer operational changes. With advice from and the help of Tom LaRocca, owner of LaRocca's Country Market as well as an NCC benefactor and volunteer, we are streamlining our quality control and inventory program procedures. The new freezer setup will help us manage our food flow better--which is a very good thing!

Thank you for helping feed those in need!
