Risk Management Services Award

Congratulations Birch Bay Leisure Park!

Birch Bay Leisure Park connects with the NPIP risk management team regularly with questions and concerns and is always quick to implement recommendations to reduce risk. NPIP risk managers have completed facility reviews and playground reviews at their location, and Birch Bay makes regular use of our Educational Services as well. The general manager has also recently led the implementation of an employee-led health and safety team.

Birch Bay Leisure Park's desire to remain OSHA-compliant and their proactive attitude towards risk management are accomplishments that we wish to recognize with the Risk Management Service Award. We are pleased to bestow this honor on them and look forward to continuing to work with them in the future. They showcase the NPIP philosophy by putting risk management first. Congratulations Birch Bay Leisure Park!

New Coverage Document

NPIP teammates and your NPIP Board of Directors sincerely value the feedback we’ve received from both members and brokers on our current coverage document and coverage structure. After carefully considering this feedback and how best to implement it, we are pleased to share the following information about a new NPIP coverage document that is currently in development.

Your broker can help you navigate all the differences between the old insurance structure and the new one, but we hope the information below is a helpful and transparent summary of upcoming changes for our members.

What is the current coverage document and structure?

Currently, NPIP's primary carrier Munich issues a Master Policy to NPIP, and all members are included as named insureds. The Master Policy contains all coverages, with all endorsements, for all members. Munich's Master Policy includes an admitted portion for the Property, Auto, Crime, General Liability, and Auto Liability lines, and a non-admitted portion for the Wrongful Acts and Professional Liability. Other carriers complete the NPIP coverage package by following a similar structure. Cyber Liability coverage is placed on a separate policy.

What is the new coverage document and structure?

Effective June 1, 2024, NPIP will issue Coverage Agreements to each member, in place of a shared master policy. This coverage agreement will encompass all member specific coverage and limit information, as well as any specialized endorsements. This new coverage document is not an admitted form but will be reinsured by the same carrier partners as today.

Why are we changing from a Master Policy to a Coverage Agreement?

NPIP appreciates the opportunity to provide coverage to many types of nonprofit organizations, and as we have grown, so has our shared Master Policy. The new coverage document will allow greater flexibility and the new document is intended to enhance the usability and readability of the coverage documents for each NPIP member.
