Apply by December 20!
We urge WILPF US at-large and branch members to look into applying for our
Local to Global program and to reach out to colleges and universities and their students to encourage them to participate in our
Practicum program.
The application deadline for both programs is Friday, December 20.
WILPF US conducts the UN Practicum and Local to Global programs each year during the annual UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) sessions in March in New York. Through these two WILPF US programs, participants learn about the various ways in which activists can influence, lobby, and be part of the CSW discussions, shaping global policy on women's rights -- as well as learn about our organization (which has consultative status with the UN).
The 2020 CSW marks the 25th year anniversary of the historic Beijing Platform for Action. Sessions at the CSW will focus on progress (and lack thereof) on the Platform provisions, on the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, and on related UN resolutions, such as UN Security Council Resolution 1325, on women, peace, and security.
Apply now for Local to Global! WILPF members who meet the qualifications for Local to Global receive substantial subsidies in order to participate in and learn from the UN and CSW experience. In addition, we are also asking WILPF members to publicize the Practicum program to students currently enrolled in a university or college. This
introductory flyer summarizes the key aspects of the Practicum program.
Both these programs take place
March 7 to March 13, 2020. This is a wonderful opportunity for WILPF members to learn more about our role as an international organization and for students who are interested in linking global issues to the local. Participants in both programs can network with other national and global women's rights activists at the CSW.
