Juvenile Justice Makes Room for Older Juveniles Following Raise the Age

One expected, planned-for impact of increasing the age of juvenile jurisdiction to include 16 and 17-year old children is the need to provide this population with proper secure custody spaces, when appropriate. Through renovation of existing older facilities, and the development of local partnerships, the Juvenile Justice Section is prepared to meet this need, less than two months following the implementation of “Raise the Age."
