Developed by and for the Delta science community, the 2022-2026 SAA builds on the progress of the 2017-2021 iteration to prioritize and align science actions to meet management needs, foster collaboration and coordination, and guide science funding. It will serve as a roadmap for the allocation and integration of research and resource investments over the next four to five years.

The Delta Science Program was established to provide scientific information and syntheses for the state of scientific knowledge on issues critical for managing the Bay-Delta system. Understanding that effective science communication transforms information into knowledge and knowledge into action, the Delta Science Program launched the Delta Breeze newsletter in 2021.

Through a proposal solicitation process, the Delta Science Program supports scientific research on the high-priority topics identified in the SAA that are critical to establishing knowledge relevant to managing the Delta. Updates from three of the research projects funded by the 2019 solicitation, along with the 2017-2021 Science Action Area(s) they address, are profiled in the Delta Breeze.
