Kick off the Semester at the Hot Cocoa Bar

Stop by ESF’s hot cocoa bar as we kick off a successful spring semester!

Tuesday, Jan. 16 I 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. I Gateway Center

Please help us stock ESF’s food pantry, Beth’s Bounty, by bringing an item to donate:

• Lentils & Grains: Beans, rice, pasta, oatmeal, cereal
• Proteins: Canned/packets chicken or tuna, peanut butter, protein bars, Spam
• Snacks: Crackers, pretzels, chips, cookies, snack bars, fruit cups, Pop Tarts
• Cans: Vegetables, soups, chili, pasta sauce
• Seasonings/Condiments: Spices, salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, hot sauce
• Toiletries: Deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, floss, toilet paper (individually wrapped rolls), menstrual products
• Household Supplies: dish soap, hand soap, cleaning products, basic cooking products (gently used is okay)

Nominations Open for SUNY Chancellor Awards

Nominations are open for the 2024 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence. This award acknowledges students for their outstanding achievements in academics, leadership, campus involvement, community service, or the arts and is the highest honor bestowed upon a student by the university.

To be eligible for the award, a student must graduate between June 2023 and May 2024 and demonstrate exceptional academic performance and integration of SUNY excellence within many aspects of their lives. 

Nominations are open and must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2024. The campus-based committee will review the nominations and forward up to two nominees to the President and ultimately to SUNY by Feb. 1, 2024. The link for the nomination form is available here.

It is strongly encouraged faculty and staff work directly with the student they are nominating to ensure the nomination form is completed as thoroughly as possible.

Please consider nominating students who have demonstrated excellence in their academic and personal lives. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Kitty McCarthy.

Help Welcome the Next Class of Mighty Oaks

Be an Orientation Leader and help welcome the next class of Mighty Oaks to ESF!

Applications are being accepted for 2024 Orientation Leaders (OL). Every year, approximately 50 students welcome first-year students into college life. OLs receive training before the students' arrival. 

Be a friendly face in a crowd, answer questions, and provide guidance as our newest students navigate the college experience.

First-years aren’t the only ones who benefit! OLs support the campus community, develop leadership skills, and create great memories!

Applications are open until Feb. 9, with interviews taking place throughout the spring semester. Contact Christopher Card, Campus Programming & Community Service Coordinator.

Call for Abstracts | Student Conference

The Graduate Student Association and the Mighty Oak Student Assembly are seeking abstracts for the CNY Conference on Environmental Science and Studies.

This free conference is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Research students may submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations as sessions or workshops.
