Dear MCS Elementary Parents:
The elementary program at Mariners Christian School is pleased to announce the revision of all elementary report cards for TK through fifth grade. It is our expectation that the new report cards will provide you with more detailed information regarding your child's progress toward grade-level standards. As MCS continues to focus on 21st century learning through individualized instructional practices, our goal is to ensure that the information reported on the new report cards accurately represents our academic program based upon grade-level standards.
This shift to a new standards-based report card equips teachers with greater depths of knowledge regarding your child's mastery of grade-level standards and enables them to provide specific citizenship and behavior skills feedback for successful learning. Lastly, our new elementary report cards are now in alignment with local elementary school districts (such as Newport Mesa and Irvine Unified) and best practices in how to represent students' progress toward grade level mastery.
Attached is a Parent Information Guide (click) that will provide you with preliminary information and responses to frequently asked questions regarding standards-based report cards. If you would like to preview your child's new grade level report card template before parent teacher conferences, we've enclosed them below for your convenience.
Teachers will be reviewing your child's progress report during parent teacher conferences which will be held the week of November 14th - 17th.
If you have specific questions regarding the report card templates and content, please contact Elementary Instructional Facilitator Kristina Mazaika directly at

.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding your child's educational program. Thank you for your continued partnership..
Sincerely,
