About Charlotte Jacobs and Matt Calderwood

Charlotte Jacobs grew up immersed in the sport at her grandparents’ Deeridge Farm. As a junior, she earned top honors, including two R.W. “Ronnie” Mutch Equitation Championships, a Prix des States gold medal, and multiple top-three finishes at Medal and Maclay Finals.

After graduating from the University of Miami and briefly stepping away from the sport, Charlotte returned in 2016 to help launch North Star Sport Horses. Since then, she has competed at the highest levels, representing the U.S. in multiple Nations Cups, debuting in her first 5* at Hickstead, and earning international wins in Aiken and at the Dublin Horse Show.

Looking ahead, Charlotte aims to continue producing top horses and representing the U.S.

Matt Calderwood grew up on a family farm in Ireland, where his love for horses quickly turned into a career. Known for his natural horsemanship and sharp eye, he rose from groom to a respected rider and manager for top show jumping programs.

In 2014, he joined Greg Broderick at Ballypatrick Stables, managing operations and traveling internationally—including to the 2016 Rio Olympics with MHS Going Global.

Matt joined North Star Sport Horses in 2019 and now serves as General Manager, focusing on young horse development and is a key component to Charlotte Jacobs’ continued success in the ring.
