The New Era of Red Angus Communications

As part of our continued commitment to serving the membership and strengthening the Red Angus brand, the Association is introducing a newly structured Communications Department designed to enhance storytelling, expand digital outreach and better connect with cattlemen across the industry. Stay tuned early next week for more information on this exciting new era in Red Angus Communications.

Spring 2026 Herd Inventory Due TODAY

Spring 2026 herd inventory was requested in January. Please submit necessary disposals, reason codes or transfers to update your herd by March 4. All females listed on your active inventory after March 4 will be billed the spring THR assessment in July.


Reminders:

  • Females listed in the spring inventory are expected to calve between Jan. 1 - June 30.
  • Submission is not required if inventory is correct.
  • Disposal codes are used to remove animals from inventory.



A tutorial is available on updating herd inventory for those with further questions. 

From Pasture to Progress

Join us in North Carolina as we bring together industry leaders and progressive cattlemen to talk real-world strategies for marketing feeder calves more effectively and capturing more value along the way. Speakers include Grant Keenen, senior director of cattle management and procurement for Walmart, Kelly Smith, RAAA director of commercial marketing, Ian Wheal, CEO and founder of Breedr, and Kevin Miller, Croissant Red Angus.


The meeting will be held March 6 at 1 p.m. at the University of Mount Olive in the Holmes & Lois Murphy Center, Hennessy Room.

The following is a review of last week's cattle market.

Compared to last week, fed cattle trade was lower with feeder cattle and stocker calves higher. Cattle futures collapsed while the boxed beef cutouts spiked higher.
