Restoring a Culture of Civil Communication
in our Digital World
A presentation by Dr. Aharon Zorea, Professor of History
University of Wisconsin–Platteville
WHEN: Wednesday, May 27, 6:30-8pm
WHERE: Mount Horeb Public Library
In a world where people spend so much time online, communication practices have shifted, often becoming depersonalized and misinterpreted. Learn a brief history of effective communication strategies and identify some basic elements to help your personal interactions. Dr. Zorea includes practical recommendations on how we can adapt our communication into better digital habits, with the goals of:
- Increasing our communication skills (generally);
- Developing strategies for discussing difficult topics in a civil manner; and
- Encourageing a more constructive attitude for managing uncivil (or potentially hostile) interactions with others who strongly disagree.
This skill-building evening is part of our Disagree Better series.
