New Excuses Needed

Covid-19 has and continues to change our lives.  One of the changes that we might not have realized is that all of our old excuses for not coming to worship don't work anymore.  Here are some common excuses used in the past that simply don't work now with worship online:
  • Saturday night was a late one and I didn't get up in time to make it to church - no problem you can worship in bed now.
  • There isn't enough gas in the car to make it to church - no problem you don't have to drive anywhere.
  • I felt like a big Sunday morning breakfast, and there wasn't time to make it to worship - no problem eat and worship at the same time.
  • The kids have sport activities on Sunday morning - no problem those are canceled right now.
  • The church's coffee isn't that good - no problem fix your favorite coffee at home (and refill it anytime).
  • Sunday morning is the only day I get to sleep in - no problem worship in your PJs.

Our old excuses simply don't work anymore - and let's be honest we've all made excuses for not worshipping (myself included)!  Yet, right now with our lives being affected like they are, there is no better time nor more important time to worship!

So, join us online every Sunday at 10:00am for worship.  In fact, help us to invite others to join us in worship.  Invite family, friends, neighbors, co-workers - it's easier than ever to not only to invite others, but for them to respond to the invitation.  In fact, in the coming days/weeks we are going to be posting more things on Facebook, inviting others can be as simple as clicking "Like" and/or "Share".

Let us worship God in relevant, meaningful, and powerful ways to express our thanks and praise for life in Christ.

Life Together,
Pastor Mark

Many have given themselves, so that we may have life. Perhaps we should ask ourselves if we are truly alive? We are alive in Christ!

Join us this Sunday, May 24th as we go live online at 10 am!
Face Masks

If you are 65+ in age and are in need of a face mask, please let us know!  We have a church family that has made cotton masks with ties, filters and flexible nose pieces.  If you are in need of a face mask please email us at: kohmer@masonumc.org. We will arrange for you to either pick up the mask(s) at the church, or deliver it to you.
Interfaith Hospitality Network

Hello MUMC friends!  Hasn't this "sheltering-in-place been fun!  I keep telling myself that "this too shall pass" but who knows when?

It's that time again for us to host a dinner for Interfaith Hospitality Network's guests.  And as in March, they will be staying in Lebanon motels rather at various churches.

I thought in March, that if the same protocols were in place, it would be easier if I just purchased and prepared the food.  The Leadership Board is agreeable to that and so I am requesting that those of you who are interested in supporting this mission, donate funds to cover the purchase to the church.  My costs will be reimbursed by the church.

If you want to help with this, please send a check in whatever amount you choose ($5.00 +) to:
             Mason United Methodist Church
            6153 Mason-Montgomery Rd.
            Mason, OH 45040

Please be sure to note of your check that it is for the INH Dinner.
Thank you very much for your generosity!

Janet Hamilton

Online Bible Study

In the midst of Covid-19, have you felt at times like the Israelites wandering in the wilderness - not sure where you are going or what life is going to be like when we get to a "new normal"?  Or maybe, like the Israelites, you are just wanting everything to simply go back the way it was!  Right now, we may be feeling a lot like the Israelites as they awaited the Promised Land.

If you'd like to examine how God is in this journey with us, and how we might experience the power of God like Joshua and Caleb, we invite you to join us in an online Bible Study.

We are still putting together the details for this study but here is what we know at the moment:
  • The study will be held online via Zoom or another similar platform
  • The study will have 7, 75 minute sessions
  • The study will be co-led by Kristen Smith and Pastor Mark
  • The material used will be "One in a Million" by Priscilla Shirer
  • Each participant will need to purchase the "Study Guide" (details to come)
If you are interested in this study, please keep your eyes open for the final details to be announced.
