Dear Members and Friends of Reynoldsburg Community Church,

Greetings in the name of Jesus—who is always faithful.

We want to share some exciting news with you. Following an extensive search process, Bishop Mark Webb has affirmed and set the appointment of Dave Carter as the Executive Pastor of Reynoldsburg Community Church effective May 1.

Dave is a graduate of Asbury College and Ashland Theological Seminary. He brings over 35 years of ministry experience in a wide variety of church sizes and settings and has shared Christ across the United States and in several countries around the world. Dave is also currently the Presiding Elder of the Columbus East Circuit of the Allegheny West Provisional Conference of the Global Methodist Church.

Pastor Dave and his wife, Donna, have four adult children, all of whom reside in Ohio. The Carters live in Westerville. Dave's passions include his family, missions, Ohio State, traveling, and adventure trips.

When asked about his new role at Reynoldsburg, Dave said:

“I’m excited to become a part of the ministry staff at Reynoldsburg Community Church because I believe the church’s best days are ahead of it, the vision and direction of the church are engaging, the church staff is exceptional, and I love our focus upon being and doing gospel as the way to transform our community for the glory of God.”

The process leading to Dave’s appointment to our church began last fall. Shortly after Pastor Jeff Greenway announced he would be transitioning from our Lead Pastor to his role as the President Pro Tempore of our Annual Conference effective June 30, a list of ten potential executive pastor candidates was developed by Pastor Jeff in conjunction with other leaders of the Conference. That list was then provided to Pastor Bill Weaver who worked with a presiding elder to narrow the list and identify the most qualified individuals to be interviewed.

During this process, when Dave expressed interest in joining the candidate pool, Pastor Jeff then assigned a different presiding elder to guide the process. Pastor Bill further narrowed the list to two final candidates for extensive interviews—and in the end, Bill discerned he wanted to bring Dave on-site for a series of interviews.

On Saturday, March 2, Pastor Dave participated in interviews with our Staff-Parish Relations Committee, our church staff, and the Church Board. At the end of those interviews, all who were involved in this process were unanimous in their consensus that Dave Carter be invited to serve as our new Executive Pastor. One member of the Church Board said, “I can’t imagine finding a better match.” Another participant in the interviews wrote to Pastor Jeff, indicating, “He [Dave] seems like a great talent.”

The Carters were in worship with us on Sunday morning, March 3, and were thrilled with what they experienced in all settings. With the blessing of the presiding elder and Pastor Jeff (as President Pro Tempore), Pastor Bill extended an offer for Pastor Dave to join our staff—which he readily accepted.

When Pastor Dave joins us on May 1, he'll have the chance to spend some time with Pastor Jeff before he transitions from our staff. He'll also have the opportunity to get to know our church family before he preaches his first sermon in June.

Pastor Jeff and Pastor Bill are thrilled to have Dave and his considerable experience come alongside Pastor Bill as he begins his tenure as our next Lead Pastor. In the words of Methodist founder John Wesley, we believe “the best is yet to come!”

Please feel free to reach out to Pastor Bill (614-866-5864 or [email protected]) with any questions you may have about the process that led to this appointment.

We're blessed and honored to be your pastors!

Jeff Greenway
