Asclepias Tuberosa (Milkweed), Pollinator Garden
Artist Reception
Artist's Talk & Reception, Sunday, August 21, 2-3:30 pm

Join artist William Durkin in the Wisner House Gallery for this FREE event for both Arboretum members and non-members. Registration is requested but not required.

'The Shoaling' is the culmination of William Durkin’s lifelong love of the water and its inhabitants. An assembly of nearly 40 dynamic, glimmering sculptures compels us to take a closer look at the beauty of our oceans, rivers, and lakes—and the great perils they are facing. For more about the artist and this extraordinary exhibit, please click here.

Forest Bathing is a practice that combines a slow walk in a natural area with a clearly defined sequence of guided events that aims to engage humans through their senses not their intellects. The walk takes approximately 2.5 hours and requires no exceptional skill or physical exertion.

Thursday, September 22, 7:30 - 9 pm

In partnership with the City of Summit’s Shade Tree Advisory Committee, we will present three powerful programs, in our returning series Fall in Love With Trees

In Part 1, we celebrate 12 of the Arboretum’s most iconic trees. Our Director of Horticulture, John Beirne will share the ways Reeves-Reed Arboretum is preserving the genetic legacy of these majestic and ancient trees through proper care, seed propagation for diversity, and vegetative propagation to clone profiles. You will also learn how you can propagate your own most cherished trees, helping to preserve them for future generations.

This program is being offered onsite and virtually. Onsite space is limited and reservations are encouraged.

Additional Series Topics:
Tuesday, September 27, 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

Inspired by our lecture with Notable Garden Speaker Louis Bauer, former Director of Horticulture of Wave Hill, we are taking a day trip and tour of Wave Hill this fall!

Our own Director of Horticulture, John Beirne, will lead us on a guided tour to include the Marco Polo Stufano Conservatory, T.H. Everett Alpine House, Herb, Flower, and Aquatic gardens and more. There will be free time on your own to explore the current art exhibits, gift shop, and café for lunch. Register early as bus seating is limited.
