(It's Wonderful)
Yoga Behind Bars is a program very close to our hearts. Once a week, teachers from Poser YOGA travel to Clallam Bay Correctional Center to teach a 90 minute Yoga class to inmates at the facility. This video was filmed at CBCC, and these are OUR students!!

Check it out: Yoga Behind Bars is on   NowThis News ! A powerful video that provides an inside look at our prison yoga classes. We are so proud to be a part of this organization, and it's really cool to have this video as a small window into the world of yoga in prison.

You'll soon discover that your Yoga practice moves with you, no matter how you're feeling, and it's very likely that you'll never regret coming to class.

We have some exciting changes happening this Fall! Our new schedule rolls out Monday, September 11th. Some times have changed, and some class names have changed. Please take a look to see if any of these updates apply to you and your Yoga practice.

We have added HEATED YOGA to the Fall schedule! For the time being, classes will be 'warm' as we get our community accustomed to the heat and this particular style of class. If you've never tried Hot Yoga before, this will be a great opportunity to get acclimated, before we turn up the heat in a few months!

A few of our prices will change by September 1st.
10-Class Pass: $110 (from $100)
1- Month Unlimited $125 (from $120)

Starting September 11th
Mondays @ 7PM
Fridays @ 5:30PM

Heated Yoga is a sequence of set postures, practiced in warm and humid conditions. The repetitive and predicable nature of this type of class allows you to focus your attention on staying calm and relaxed, and as well, you have the opportunity to track improvement over time.
These first few months will be an ideal time to try our heated classes because they will be warm, rather than hot. The room will be heated to 80-85F, with humidity around 40%. The goal is to increase the temperature to 95-100F, once the community has had a few months to get accustomed to the heat. We're aiming for January 2018.

Our Yoga for Seniors is a 6-week progressive series for older adults. The poses are approached with softness and support, and no previous yoga experience is necessary. The classes are small, so that each student gets the attention and assistance needed, including modifications and variations of the poses to work with individual needs.

KIDS Yoga incorporates elements of art, music, dance, and FUN into various games, activities and traditional Yoga poses. Children will develop strength, flexibility, co-ordination, and interpersonal skills like co-operation and sharing space. They will also explore another important benefit of Yoga - the art of stillness & mindfulness.

doors open @ 10:30AM; class @ 11AM

Join Poser Yoga for a fun event at Barhop Brewery! One hour of Yoga, topped off with a refreshing pint of beer (or a bubbly mimosa!) Pre-registration is helpful, but not required.

Such as the seasons, and the tides, people come and go, and we're looking to add a few new faces to represent Poser YOGA! If you are a dedicated Yogi, both to your own practice and to the offering of it to others, Poser YOGA might be the perfect place for you to grow some roots. We're looking for experienced, certified teachers who are willing to take on at least two regular classes a week, and are eager to contribute to our Yoga community in various other ways. If you are a new teacher, and looking for mentorship, support, and experience, we have a place for YOU as well!

Thoughts, On & Off the Mat

I just finished reading the book, " Poser: My Life in Twenty-three Yoga Poses", by Claire Dederer. I borrowed it from Poser Yoga, and found it to be a rather quick and interesting read. There were things in the book I could relate to, and some I could not, but it was still a book I enjoyed. As I often do after I read a book to review a book, I look to see what the impressions of other readers are, and I was a little surprised to see the reviews were all over the place, from two stars to five. Reviews included professional reviews, as well as reader reviews on the social networking site Goodreads. This book is a memoir, so there is definitely some personal freedom in the writing....

If yoga teachers were Disney characters, I would be Goofy.

Teaching over the past year at Poser Yoga, I’ve said oh, so many goofy things. I’ve come very close to falling out of various poses, including ones I’ve done thousands of times.

At the same time, I’ve felt enveloped in a sense of gratitude — for those poses, for the studio and especially for you yogis. Morning after morning and on many evenings, you agreed to go with me on that unpredictable journey called a yoga class.

As you know, it isn’t easy to slow down and breathe deep. But when we get together,  si, se puede. Thank you for this...

7 years ago I traveled to India to become certified as a Yoga teacher. Forever it will be one of my most memorable experiences. For a month, I lived at an ashram in South India. I was completely immersed in Yogic philosophy, asana (physical practice), meditation, chanting (Bhakti Yoga) and anatomy. Our days began with a bell ringing in the courtyard at 4:30AM. We'd gather in the main hall for an hour of meditation, followed by a 2-hour asana class. Then breakfast, lecture, lunch, and more lecture. We'd spend our late afternoons completing our assigned chores/jobs around the ashram (Karma Yoga) and daily homework. We ate dinner (on the floor, with our hands - traditional Indian style) and during our hour of free time, many of us were studying, memorizing, and practicing how to teach to our fellow students. We'd finish each day with a 2-hour Yoga class and an hour of meditation. Our 'lights out curfew' was 10PM, though most of us were asleep well before that...

Regarding multi-class passes:
If you purchase a multi-class pass, you enter into a student/studio agreement; a cheaper rate per class, with the expectation that you'll use the pass within a certain duration. Please take into consideration the length of time you have to use each specific pass and whether that suits your lifestyle. We all know that a regular Yoga practice is  ideal, and if you can make the commitment to  yourself, then by all means, commit to a multi-class pass. Whichever pass you choose, please take note of
your expiration dates, and enjoy getting your Yoga ON!!
For more info, visit our webpage on  Pass Extensions

Regarding class etiquette:
Please arrive 5-10 minutes early for class. Allow for time to check in and make payments, if necessary. Class starts promptly, and ends promptly too! Let's all respect each other's time and things will move smoothly! when you arrive, make sure you and confirms you're checked in!
One other thing to mention: We urge you to be aware of the scents you are bringing into the studio with you. Strong body odours and fragrances can be very overpowering, especially since mindful breathing is such an important aspect of our Yoga practices. Err on the side of plain, simple hygiene and save your shpritzing for after class.
