Greetings!

The families have arrived! They are thankful to be here and ready for the journey. The adults are excited to learn more about themselves and to build a stronger and more stable foundations for their families. They are full of hope. Many have shared they can already feel the strong community all around them.

As the families settle in they are getting to know their new neighbors and the program. Orientation Week is for introductions, begin building relationships and trust, and learning the expectations of the program. Families understand there may be tough spots, but they are building confidence along the way! They heard from alumni saying "trust the process" and "as you establish a routine, find peace and space to heal." They are here and they are ready!

And the kiddos?! There are 19 children; 9 toddlers, 8 in elementary, and 2 in middle school. They arrived bouncing and crawling with big eyes as they went through their new rooms.

As the fall gets busy on our campuses, this is a great time to get involved with tutoring, family nights, supply drives and more! Make sure you’re signed up for our volunteer newsletter so you can plug into the fun.

Thank you for making it possible for these new families to be with us. Your support is a wonderful reminder of what community means. We are lucky and honored that you support Saranam.

We can't say thank you enough to everyone who helped bring these homes together. Your teamwork and planning, during the hot summer months, made the apartments into homes.

There were 13 decorating teams and many more community volunteers who helped in other ways to prep the homes.

We also want to thank the quilters, bakers, movers and makers:

• Quilters who sewed cozy and beautiful quilts for everyone in the family.
• Talented cooks who baked casseroles and cookies that were placed in the fridges with care.
• Handy people who put together beds (and built new beds) and transported décor and furniture where it needed to go.
• And many, many people who donated household items to furnish these homes and the organizers who helped it all go smoothly.

New Homes, Next Chapters

Would you like to take a peek inside the newly decorated homes? The teams and volunteers worked their decorating magic to set up 10 homes for the new cohort- the pantry shelves were stocked, beds were made, and extra towels were folded in the linen closets.

Check out our e-book, Home Highlights, featuring the decor, special moments, styles, and themes of the rooms. The FTA Campus apartments are 2 and 3-bedrooms with 1 or 2 bathrooms.

We believe in continual improvement which means that assessment and evaluation are part of our regular process. 

In our fifth year with the UNM Evaluation Lab (academic year 2024-2025), we began the qualitative portion of our mixed methods study. Take a closer look at the findings and themes!

Teamwork makes the Dreamwork

Sandia National Labs was one of the teams who helped decorate a home this year. They also had teams within their team. This year Sandia Labs had a special group making beds.

The bed making team was a part of WIN, Workplace Improvement Network, at the Labs. The group used an internal grant to build 5 beds from scratch complete with donated bedding. The beds are designed to be disassembled so families an easily bring their beds with them when the leave.

Michelle Williams, systems research engineer, led the efforts for the build, and partnered with Brendan Nation. The team planed and prepped the bed parts at the Air Force Research Lab Maker Hub. Williams plans to train other team members for future projects to continue the efforts in building beds for children in Albuquerque.
