NEW FIRE CHIEF & DIRECTORS APPOINTED
OCEANSIDE SELECTS NEW FIRE CHIEF
The selection of David Parsons as Oceanside’s next Fire Chief was recently announced. The appointment took effect July 30, 2022, when current Fire Chief Rick Robinson retired. Learn more about Chief Parsons and his 27 years of fire service experience.
 
The City of Oceanside thanks Chief Rick Robinson for his six years of service as Oceanside’s Fire Chief and congratulates him on over four decades of dedicated fire service in our region!
 
NEW WATER UTILITIES DIRECTOR NAMED
Lindsay Leahy was named Oceanside's next Water Utilities Director. Ms. Leahy was previously the Principal Water Engineer for Oceanside's Water Utilities Department. Since 2018, Lindsay has managed the Water Utility’s Capital Improvement Program, which is focused on developing a 50% local water supply by 2030. She is a Professional Engineer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, and a Certificate in Water Management and Leadership. Prior to transitioning to the public sector, Lindsay worked in the private sector, specializing in water and wastewater treatment plant construction.

Ms. Leahy takes the helm as former Director Cari Dale retires. Ms. Dale led the Water Utilities Department for 11 years, accomplishing the expansion of local water supplies, notably the Pure Water Oceanside project, the first of its kind in San Diego County. 
NEW PUBLIC LIBRARY DIRECTOR APPOINTED
CJ Di Mento was appointed the new Director of the Oceanside Public Library. Ms. Di Mento brings extensive professional experience in library services. Most recently, CJ served as Library Division Manager, in which she oversaw programming, outreach and literacy initiatives. She holds a Master's Degree in Human Relations and a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science. Her experience with grant writing has brought the City funds from the CA. State Library, the CA. Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, amongst others. Serving as the City staff liaison to the Arts Commission, Ms. Di Mento oversaw the creation of the City’s first cultural plan, O’Arts: Master Plan for the Arts. She also spearheaded the state-designation of Oceanside as one of only 14 cultural districts in California and continues to lead that work.

Former Library Director Sherri Cosby retired in May after 35 years with the Library, and the last 10 years as Director. Ms. Cosby's many Library achievements include the home delivery program, expansion of Library hours, additional bookmobiles, library card for every student, and many more through the years.
