Gun Violence Awareness Weekend

June 2 - 4 - Wear Orange Weekend

Jan. 21, 2013, Hadiya Pendleton marched in President Obama’s second inaugural parade. One week later she was shot and killed on a playground in Chicago. Her friends commemorated her life by wearing orange, her favorite color. It is also the color that hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves and others. 40,000 people are killed with guns and 85,000 are shot and wounded every year.

Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. It was started on Facebook after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings. We work in our communities and with business leaders to encourage a culture of responsible gun ownership. We know gun violence is preventable and we are committed to doing what it takes to keep families safe.

The local Moms Demand Action group is putting orange ribbons around the lampposts in downtown Rochester over the Gun Violence Awareness weekend. We will also have some around St. Paul’s.

Sunday Worship

A Calling and A Promise

In Jesus’s last hours on earth, he challenged his followers to heed a calling to take the gospel to the world. Along with it came a special promise. How are you to live a life that honors that calling and takes advantage of that promise? Find us on Facebook at St. Paul's United Methodist Church-Rochester.

Rev. Rick Kress

Vesper Service Thursday

Thursday at 7 p.m. on Facebook

Unwind, relax, reflect, and connect with God.

Small is a Good Place to Start

Do you have a problem with inertia, that deflating feeling that makes any significant change or improvement in your life so hard to begin? By starting small, you can chip away at whatever your goal is. Consider how Jesus did this with his closest followers and what you can learn from it.
