In response to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary’s declaration that the monkeypox outbreak is a public health emergency, the CDC Foundation is pleased to offer a new mini-grant opportunity to support monkeypox vaccination efforts. The project will provide up to 20 mini-grant awards for up to $25,000 to Tribes, Tribal health departments, and Tribal organizations to support activities related to the Administration of the monkeypox vaccine. The online application form is very easy to complete and submit.

More information is available on the CDC Foundation’s RFP web page.

Please note the deadline to apply is November 23, 2022.

The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) encourages Tribes and Tribal organizations impacted by the monkeypox outbreak to strongly consider applying to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Foundation's new funding opportunity to expand your capacity to address the monkeypox outbreak. NIHB suggests the following activities:

  • Training and outreach, and public communications;
  • Providing surge capacity to STI programs and clinics;
  • Enhancing surveillance infrastructure, including funding for new staff epidemiologists and/or contact tracing;
  • Create culturally tailored education in your community's Native language using trusted community sources;
  • Administrating vaccines, purchasing ancillary supplies, supporting Tribal health departments, and supporting clinicians in their oversight of treatment programs;
  • Upgrading information technology systems to include features necessary for monkeypox response.
