UPDATE: New Funding Available
Deadline Approaches to Apply for COVID Relief Funds
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is encouraging eligible Medicaid providers to apply for relief funds aimed at mitigating the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is an expansion of the existing Provider Relief Fund in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, or CARES Act. Pharmacies are among those eligible to apply. The deadline to apply for this new funding opportunity is next Friday, Nov. 6.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced the new funding opportunity on Oct. 1 as phase 3 of the Provider Relief Fund, while adding an additional $20 billion in assistance. The program is administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Providers eligible for this phase of funding are:

  • Providers who were previously eligible for a Provider Relief Fund distribution but did not apply.
  • Providers who previously received, rejected or accepted a General Distribution Provider Relief Fund payment. Providers who have already received payments of approximately 2 percent of annual revenue from patient care may submit more information to become eligible for an additional payment.
