The Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood is an incubator of promising research and development projects that appear likely to improve the welfare of young children, from infancy through 7 years, in the United States. Welfare is broadly defined to support, acculturation, societal integration and childcare. Grants are only made if a successful project outcome will likely be of significant interest to other professionals, within the grantee’s field of endeavor, and would have a direct benefit and potential national application.
The Foundation’s goal is to provide seed money to implement those imaginative proposals that exhibit the greatest chance of improving the lives of young children, on a national scale. Because of the Foundation’s limited funding capability, it seeks to maximize a grant's potential impact. Application deadline is May 31.

RedRover’s Safe Housing grants help survivors of domestic violence by removing a barrier to safety and allowing pets and people to escape abuse together. Flexibility in how to implement your pet program ensures that there is a solution for every community.
Grants of up to $60,000 are offered to nonprofit domestic violence and animal organizations across the United States. Funding may be used to build or renovate spaces dedicated to housing survivor’s pets, begin a foster program to care for survivor’s pets, pay for temporary boarding for survivor’s pets, or a combination of services that will best serve your community. Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is undertaking a community health needs assessment to gain a greater understanding of the health care and social service needs of the communities we serve. They want to know how health and wellness programs and services can best serve the community, we want you to be part of that planning.
As part of the assessment, the children's hospital is conducting a community survey of people who live or work in Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach Counties. They are asking that you give them your feedback and suggestions about health services and issues in the region by completing this 10-15 minute survey by Wednesday April 30. All responses are completely anonymous. There are no right or wrong answers. Your opinion matters! Assistant Site Director: Responsible for efficiently and effectively delivering programs and services directly affecting Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers, and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community, and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars.
Summer Instructional Coaches: Summer Instructional Coaches (ICs) are experienced and successful professional educators who provide content specific support for BTM Teaching Fellows throughout the summer and engage fully in the BTM community. ICs dictate the level of academic rigor during Breakthrough Miami’s summer program through their interactions with Teaching Fellows. They effectively communicate content specifics to Teaching Fellows, guide Fellows through effective planning and execution, and hold both Fellows and students to the highest standards. ICs are expected to lead department meetings, visit Fellows’ classes at least twice a week, evaluate lesson plans and curriculum overviews, and meet individually with Fellows regarding their on-going work. Since ICs are the only professional teachers on-site, they are accountable for the quality of instruction students receive, and are responsible for supporting BTM Teaching Fellows through their teaching experiences. This position will begin on June 7, 2025 and will end on August 1, 2025.
Summer Site Coordinators: Summer Site Coordinators (SSCs) are critical members of the summer administrative team and help ensure the smooth and safe operations of the Summer Institute at their assigned site. SSCs train, coordinate and oversee volunteers; supervise the summer food service program for Scholars and staff; order and keep an inventory of program supplies; coordinate general office administration; manage the Scholar drop off and pick up process; and assist with the execution of special events. This position will begin on June 7, 2025 and will end on August 1, 2025.
Summer Assistant Site Directors: Summer Assistant Site Directors (SASDs) work collaboratively with full-time directors at their assigned site to ensure a successful Summer Institute; and work closely with Scholars and their families, as well as Teaching Fellows to ensure their needs are met. SASDs assist with the coordination and management of student attendance and reporting; management of student information in the Breakthrough Miami student database; student discipline and conduct; Teaching Fellow training and professional development; implementation of the Teaching Assistant program; preparation of major events, including Visitors Day, Family Night, and other events as scheduled; and program evaluations during the final ten days of programming. This position will begin on June 7, 2025 and will end on August 1, 2025.
