New Ground is Celebrating 35 Years!

On January 15th, 2026, New Ground proudly marked 35 years of service.

On behalf of New Ground's Veterans and families, thank you for your commitment to seeing them succeed. As we look into the future, we reflect on our founder, Sr. Máiréad Barrett's, vision: to provide a holistic suite of support services, empowering individuals to achieve their goals of self sufficiency.

This vision is what pushed us into exploring new ways to expand New Ground's programs and adapt to the evolving needs of our community. Although New Ground has reached new heights over the last 35 years, our journey is far from over.

This Anniversary is more than a milestone. It marks New Ground's renewed commitment to breaking the cycle of homelessness and building brighter futures for generations to come.

Now Presenting:

New Ground's 35th Anniversary Interview Series

In commemoration of this 35th Anniversary, we launched a special project to celebrate not only New Ground's successes over the years, but the individuals who helped make it happen.

Each month in 2026 will mark the release of a new interview. This month, we had the pleasure of speaking with our Executive Director, Shannon Boyle, about her experience at New Ground for over 23 years.

Stay tuned for the next interview to be released in February!

The Grove Ribbon Cutting

We marked this 35th Anniversary with another tremendous milestone - the official ribbon cutting of our first housing development, The Grove. This fully affordable new housing complex provides homes to 17 New Ground families and has a dedicated office space for New Ground Social Workers to provide on-site services. The Grove significantly expands our Long Term Housing Program and provides even more opportunity for Long Islanders to break free from the vicious cycle of homelessness.

Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly to make this project happen!

The Grove was on the news!
