Obesity affects more than 40% of the US population with far-reaching consequences for not only individuals but employers grappling with the negative impact to workforce health. New guidance from the National Alliance Obesity Advisory Council helps employers and other healthcare purchasers make informed coverage decisions about comprehensive, holistic approaches to obesity care.

Hypertension: The Deadliest, Most Neglected Pandemic of our Time
|

|
In 2023, weight-loss drugs were a scientific, cultural (and profit-making) breakthrough. Allowing patients to shed weight without diet or exercise, they are a rare bright spot in efforts to reverse obesity. They also reduce heart disease.
But drugs to treat high blood pressure cost 5,000 times less and are better at preventing heart attacks and strokes. Unfortunately, only 1 in 5 people who need these medications get them.
Employers play an important role in helping employees and their families get back to basics, including health screenings, medication checks, and immunizations. These National Alliance resources in English and Spanish are a quick and easy way to share preventive care messages in the workplace.
