Welcome to February!
Progress and plans are moving forward as we get one month closer to our move to the new HQ! 

With just a few months to go, I’m happy to say that we have received the needed permits, demolition work has slowed down, and new construction has ramped up. Wall framing has been installed on two floors with power and AC installation in progress. 

As expected, the designs for the building, furniture, etc. are now “locked” because any changes at this point will require extra costs and possibly delays.

New Furniture Models on display
Beginning Feb. 11 there will be a furniture showcase staged in CAC to provide you with a look and feel of what the new workstations will be like in the new HQ building. 

The assigned and unassigned workstations will be set-up on the third floor in the Contract and Procurement Department, A-330. There will be appropriate signage to direct you to the staging area. 

Staff are invited to visit these workstations; sit, touch, and test and provide feedback to the furniture team.  Additionally, four different chairs will be on display and staff are asked to provide their preference on the chair most liked. Comment cards will be provided.

The furniture showcase is scheduled to end on Feb. 22.   

Security Update
We have received several questions about security at the new HQ. AISD Police Chief Gonzalez recently briefed us on a few items they have addressed.
  
  • AISD police are randomly patrolling the property 24/7 and have conducted more than 160 patrols to provide a security presence at the new building while construction is being conducted.
  • AISD PD have been conducting on-site assessments to ensure that security and the necessary resources are available at the new HQ.
  • A call box with a camera has been installed at the entrance of the building.
  • The AISD PD are in the process of putting together recommendations for controlled vehicular and pedestrian access to the parking lot.
  • Signs have been posted regarding violations of criminal trespass and unauthorized parking. Parking violation stickers have been ordered which will be used on unauthorized parked vehicles.
  • Additionally, AISD PD is coordinating efforts with Austin Police Department to monitor and address the homeless population in the area. The city of Austin is making a concerted effort to address the issues with homeless camps that pop up across the city.

Love your Commute

Day Care at UpHaus
The Uphaus Early Childhood Development Program will begin caring for children ages 6 weeks - 3 years in August 2019. If you are interested in registering your child for this day care option please fill out this contact form, here. 

Monthly Tuition Fees:
·       Infants (6 weeks -17 months): $ 850.00
·       Toddlers (18 months-35 months): $750.00
·       3-Year-Old Children: $ 650.00

Hours of Operation: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Uphaus located in southeast Austin at 5200 Friedrich Lane, approximately two miles south of the New HQ building.
