Tracy Tomiak

Tracy Tomiak is our Family Liaison Counsellor.

She has been with New Heights for 12 years. Her job entails supporting our families, strategies for home life, helping parents understand their child’s diagnosis, supporting parents and siblings, educating parents on anxiety and executive function, and her favourite -  providing hope and support to families for increased family wellness.

When Tracy isn’t at work you can find her in her kayak or on her paddle board or participating in other outdoor adventures.

Autumn begins…

The cooler weather has returned to Calgary, and boiler has been started up again to heat the building. In this transition from summer to fall, our boiler can take awhile to reach the far arms of the building. We encourage students to bring a sweater or a layer to put on as the mornings especially can feel cool.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Welcome Back BBQ last Friday! It was wonderful to gather as a New Heights community and see both new and familiar faces.

Parent Nights

As your PAC our objective is to build community and one of the ways we endeavour to this is through various events (just like the Welcome Back BBQ). Another style of event we are bringing back are parent nights. These are planned and sponsored by PAC as a fun way to connect with other New Heights parents outside of the school setting. The students at New Heights have access to the Sora Reading App which provides access to a variety of online ebooks and audiobooks from the Alberta Public School K-12 Shared Digital Collection . 

In addition, any student with a Calgary Public library card, will also be able to borrow ebooks or audiobooks from the Public Library using the Sora app. Click on the following link to sign up or reactivate your library card! Join | Calgary Public Library

To access our shared online collection you can download the Sora app from the Google Play or Apple App stores OR open it in your browser at https://soraapp.com/library/apssdcca. 

When signing into the collection, students use their school email and password.

Once signed in, users with a public library card can also add a public library to access even more titles through Sora!
