Human Trafficking - Youth Vulnerability Series

Please join New Hope Baptist Church and the Community Partner Network for a virtual series on Human Trafficking and Youth Vulnerability.

The National Human Trafficking Hotline is the premier resource for human trafficking statistics in the United States and it consistently ranks North Carolina among the top states in the country for number of reported Human Trafficking cases. We were #11 in 2019. The most unsettling statistic highlights the vulnerability of our youth. The age group at the highest risk for human trafficking is between 15 and 18 years of age. That seems so distant from our Wake County communities and, as parents, it is hard to believe that our own children are anywhere near this threat.

What can we do as Parents? And, as a community?

We can have the tough conversation with our kids;
We can empower youth by arming them with knowledge and resources;
We can be informed and proactive as a community to raise awareness;
We can stop victimization by bringing light into the darkness!

Two sessions are offered:

April 6 - "Defining the Risks for Community Youth"

April 13 - "Where they are Targeted"

*This event is free and offered online from 6:00-7:30 pm. Registration is required for both events.

Book Group for Parents

Beginning the week of April 6, we are offering another book study on Growing With: Every Parent's Guide to Helping Teenagers and Young Adults Thrive in Their Faith, Family, and Future.  We will meet for 5 weeks, beginning the week of April 6.  If you are interested in joining this study, send Brian an email.

Lord's Supper Observance

This Sunday, April 11 we will observance the Lord's Supper. If you cannot attend church service in person, there are three ways that you can obtain the All-in-One element cup. 

1) You can come by the church office through this Friday between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM

2) You can pick up an All-in-One cup from the table placed outside the portico door between Friday, April 9 at 3:00 PM and the beginning of the church service on Sunday, April 11.

3) You can call the church office at 919-876-5250 by 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 8 and request delivery of a cup. The cups will be delivered on Friday or Saturday morning. This "delivery upon request" is a new service provided by the Deacons for those members of the congregation that are unable to come by the church to get the cups themselves. If you call to request a cup, be sure to leave your name, address, a telephone number at which you can be contacted, and the number of cups that you need. Deacons delivering the cups will be wearing masks and will not come into your residence.

Snacks for Duke Raleigh 

To show our love, support and appreciation we are collecting individually wrapped snacks for nurses and doctors at Duke Raleigh. We are also encouraged to write notes of encouragement on index cards for them. These notes can be a personal note, an encouraging verse or a prayer. If these are written on index cards, they can keep them in their pocket and read it throughout the day or hang them in their locker. We have been asked to refrain from notes that refer to our healthcare workers as "heroes or superheroes." Though these messages are well intended, they often make our healthcare workers feel like they are not doing enough when they are already giving all that they have. 

Individually wrapped snacks and notes of encouragement can be dropped by the church office Monday - Friday from 9 - 2 PM.

New Hope partners with Raleigh Dream Center to distribute free groceries at Lexington on the Green apartments. Volunteers are needed each Wednesday from 11:45 - 1:00 PM.
