"Belonging"

Belonging is our connection to others. It's how we feel like we fit in with groups of people. We might say we belong when we are with people who really know, understand and accept us for who we are.

Belonging is one of the great spiritual hungers of our day. We have so many reasons for telling people they don't belong - because of their personality, neighborhood, income, race, ethnicity, immigration status or disability. We have friends and followers on social media, but these connections often remind us of who isn't following us or where we don't belong.

We want to belong so badly that we will go to great lengths - even hiding or changing parts of our identity or pursuing a false sense of purpose - to feel it. Teenagers are desperate to belong.

This week, we continue our discussion on belonging. We'll examine Biblical texts that offer hope for our teens. Pray for our youth and youth leadership as we explore Belonging, Wednesday at 6 PM!
Youth & Parent Survey on Sunday Nights

Recently, our youth have asked about extending their time together on Sunday afternoons to 2 hours. I wanted to sent out this survey to ask for family input on this idea. It is exciting to me that they have this interest. Thank you for taking a moment to complete this survey!

Where Prayer Becomes Real
by Kyle Strobel and John Coe

From the back of the book:
"Prayer isn't a place for us to be good or right. It isn't a place for us to perform or prove our worth. It's a place for us to be honest, present, and known--a place for us to offer ourselves and receive God."

As adults the idea of spiritual habits is pretty familiar to us and many of us have a least a few rhythms in place that help us to grow spiritually. Kids, on the other hand, need help figuring out how, exactly, to grow spiritually. We will have a series of activities throughout the year to help kids discover four habits that can help them grow spiritually. These four habits will cover spending time with God, spending time with others, sharing your God story and using your gifts.

The Good News Feed is a take home family devotion that will focus on spending time with others. Kids hear about a great God who did great things. But just like famous people have "fan clubs," we can experience and get to know God in community of other like-minded followers of God. As they spend time with others, they can explore who God is together by discovering and talk about the Good News.
