Celebrating 50 Million Children Discipled!
New Hope has been participating in Operation Christmas Child for many years. And it's easy to fill your shoebox, get it to the church by the deadline, and not think of where God takes it from there.
If you weren't aware, each child who receives a shoebox gift is invited to join a local church in The Greatest Journey, a 12-lesson discipleship program that includes Bible stories and scripture memorization. In 2023, Samaritan's Purse will mark the 50 millionth child discipled through The Greatest Journey (and previously The Mailbox Club). What a HUGE thing to celebrate!
Fourteen-year-old Samuel was one of these children. He lives in Cote d'Ivoire in an unreached area where spirit worship is common. He was charged by his parents to take care of a local shrine. But after Samuel attended The Greatest Journey and received Christ as his Savior, he told his parents that he would no longer be involved in false worship.
His parents insisted that he would die if he stopped appeasing the spirits. Samuel said Jesus would protect him, so he prayed -- and the Lord heard his prayer. That night four shrines burned down. Community members, having witnessed the true God's power, turned to Him. Soon, a local church was established where over two dozen adults and children now attend and worship the Lord!
New Hope is are currently collecting individual items for a huge Operation Christmas Child Packing Party this fall. Will you donate and let God use your donations in mighty ways?
