Caring for Widows
"Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in His holy habitation."
Psalm 68:5
Widows have a special place in God's heart. Throughout the Bible, we see God keep a careful eye on the widow, concerned for her, acting as her defender and commanding His people to do the same.
As early as Acts 6:1-7, the church ministered to widows through appointed deacons. New Hope imitates this example and currently sees to the well-being and care of members who are widows through our deacon body. Deacons are available to offer encouragement, support and empathy to New Hope members who are women experiencing difficult times following the death of their husband.
We also offer other resources that can help widows as they grieve, heal and adapt to a new way of living. Resources include Stephen Ministry, GriefShare, Loss of a Spouse, and Surviving the Holidays. These support tools are offered throughout the year.
If you are member of New Hope and a widow, and are not connected to our widows ministry or any of these other resources, please let us know! We want you to know you are not alone.
