First Wednesdays
Few things are more exciting than seeing students love church, and during New Hope Students Midweek, we're seeing just that!
Wednesday nights with New Hope Students is a time for 6th-12th graders to rest, breathe and realize the joy of Christ right in the middle of their crazy week. It's not another extra-curricular activity built to compete with their busy schedule. It's a night set apart for their spiritual growth and spiritual health. New Hope Students isn't just a program; it's a place for students to belong and a place for students to discover how to be the church outside our walls.
Starting this past September, New Hope Students has dedicated the first Wednesday of every month to reaching out and inviting unchurched friends to church. At "First Wednesdays," there's always a little outrageous and extra fun with the goal of unchurched students beginning relationships with other students and student leaders. More so than any "fun" event (like competitive jousting or eating as many hot wings as possible while answering trivia questions -- we've done both!), we believe that students "stick" to church because of relationships more than anything else.
Our student leaders often use the phrase "show and tell". While we place high importance in telling our students about Jesus (Romans 10:7), we also believe that we are called to show Jesus to students. When students see Jesus in relationships with their friends, their leaders, their family and their pastor, then long lasting faith is being built in this young generation.
