Ending the Year Strong

December is in full swing! Christmas parties, family outings, carols on the radio, lists and gifts galore. Christmas is such a special time of giving of self and time, all to remember the greatest gift we could ever receive - Jesus.

I want to give you an update on our budget status. Recently, we've challenged all those who call New Hope their church home to pray and consider how they can help us close the budget gap that we have been carefully managing for many months now. Boy, have New Hopers responded!

We ended the month of November with $197,000 in giving, which is the highest amount given in a November over the past six years. I personally thank you for your generosity church family! This has closed the budget gap significantly, and moved us closer to ending the year on solid financial footing. We remain prayerful that December will be a strong giving month (giving during this month has been as much as 16% of our entire budget).

My challenge is the same as always. First, be generous and give sacrificially because we are giving to make an eternal impact, letting God use our financial resources to reach hearts for Him. Second, simply pray about what God is leading you to do above your normal giving to help us finish the year strong.

Invite Friends this Weekend

Don't forget, this weekend, Dec. 10 and 11, we are having three Music Celebration services (Saturday at 5:30 pm, Sunday at 9:30 & 11:00 am). This celebration will look at the mystery of the love of a Father, the Son who sacrificed His life to save the world, and the hope we have because of this mysterious, sacrificing love. Pray about who you will invite!

Recipe for Challah Bread

Christmas "Challah" Bread

During this advent season, we will either sing or hear "O Little Town of Bethlehem" as we celebrate our Savior's birth. Bethlehem means "city of bread" in Hebrew. How inspiring to know that He who was born in the city of bread would be the bread of life to all who believes in Him.

We will be baking loaves of Challah Bread, a braided Jewish bread, for our first time guests during the month of December. Do you love baking? You can sign-up to help us bless our guests with this special gift!

If baking for the masses isn't your thing, we still invite you to try out this simple recipe and share this special loaf with your family or friends. Maybe it will become a new tradition and make for an easy introduction to the Bread of Life.
