New Hope This Week: Impact from Amazon Mission + Fuel for Life

Meet Sebastão

It's always humbling when God uses flawed people like you and me to share His great love and gift of salvation with others. And it's such a blessing when He lets us see what He has produced with our efforts!

Last June, 13 members from New Hope followed God's call to the Amazon, where they traveled down river by boat, visiting five villages, sharing God's love and serving over 1,300 people. When the evangelism team stopped in the village of Vasco, they met Sebastão.

Sebastão is an amputee living alone, confined to his house because he has no wheelchair. Living in social isolation is often overwhelming and discouraging. During the team's visit, Sebastão received the gift of salvation through Jesus! As our team rejoiced over this new brother in Christ, they also took up an offering in hopes of getting Sebastão a new wheelchair.

God took these efforts and multiplied them, and just recently Sebastão received the gift of a wheelchair! Pastor Eustaqeu, a vocational missionary who serves the village of Vasco, was able to personally deliver it to him. Sebastão is not only experiencing new life and hope in Jesus, but the gift of this wheelchair will give him a new chance of mobility and sharing his story with others.

What a gift God has given us in seeing that our mission to the Amazon continues to bear fruit!
