New Hope This Week: Sabbatical Plans + Summer Fun for Kids/Students

Summer Sabbatical Plans

It is really great to serve at a church where appreciation and support of ministerial staff are in strong supply. One of the ways New Hope supports pastors is by granting them a six-week sabbatical after six consecutive years of service.

This year, we have two pastors who are eligible for sabbaticals, Ryan Nelson and myself. Sabbaticals not only allow our pastors to break from their routines for some rest and rejuvenation, but they allow the pursuit of continuing education, study, service and professional development. Here are some details I'd like to share with you:

Ryan Nelson, Worship Pastor (celebrating 6 years of service)

Sabbatical Timeframe: June/July
Goals: 1) renewal missions experience abroad; 2) research on current cultures that we are partnering with in missions; 3) learn from other church worship leaders and staff regarding leading worship and outreach

Keith Pate, Senior Pastor (celebrating 12 years of service)

Sabbatical Timeframe: August/September
Goals: 1) renewal retreat for pastors and wives; 2) visit and learn from multiple churches regarding preaching/teaching and leading a staff team; 3) create a detailed sermon schedule for 2024

Though you will notice our missing faces this summer, ministry and plans at New Hope will carry on well. I ask you to be praying for both Ryan and myself during this time away! Pray that God will grow us personally and professionally, and that He will give fresh vision on how He wants to work in and through us to serve New Hope, our community and our world.

Does working with preschoolers bring you joy? Then we have a place for you on our HIS Kids Preschool Team! We are looking for teachers and substitutes who will give quality care to children while helping them grow emotionally, socially and academically. Summer Fun for Kids!

In 3 short weeks, summer at New Hope begins! Summers here are packed with fun, friends, of course food, and intentional opportunities to grow closer in relationship with Jesus.

VBS: June 5-9

A week of kids worship, music, drama, crafts, games/recreation, missions, snacks and Bible lessons. For completed Kinder-5th grade (as of June 2023). NEW: VBS has an evening schedule this year, 5:30-8:45 pm.

Mega Sports Camp: July 24-27

Action-packed sports training, with daily rallies and guest sports speakers. For completed Kinder-5th grade (as of June 2023).

Student Summer Nights: June 14 & 28, July 5, 12 & 19, Aug. 2 & 9

At Summer Nights, students can expect special theme nights, crazy games, lots of food, hanging out with friends, and powerful worship and teaching. For 6th-12th graders.
