Growing Students through Summer Fun
Students, 6th-12th grade, took summer fun to a whole new level at Student Week two weeks ago! This was our second year to offer Student Week, an outreach effort that combines summer fun and student-focused worship/teaching to reach students in our community, as well as grow our New Hope students.
Each morning, students were led in a devotional time by college students, most former graduates of New Hope. Then students headed out to epic afternoon excursions like Waterloo and Kalahari. This was an incredible time to hang with friends and enjoy summer fun. Each evening, students were led in worship by MJ and his band and presented with a powerful message by TJ Gillium. This same worship leader and speaker joined Student Weekend (DNow) last Feb., and the students were thrilled to have them return.
Each student was challenged to bring a friend to this special week so they could experience New Hope's Student Ministry and discover it as a place where they could belong and find purpose. Not only did students accept this challenge, but they continued inviting friends during the week. In fact, there were more students participating at the end of the week than there were at the beginning!
This week of fun and worship included 15 first time guests, with several of those guests visiting Hope Groups the following Sunday -- talk about 3D Church! There were also 8 students who gave their life to Christ during the week. What an incredible week of fun and purpose!
