One question keeps coming up in conversations with growing businesses: "Are our systems actually keeping up with us?"

This edition approaches it from three angles — your financial platform, your IT environment, and what financial visibility looks like when multi-entity operations start adding complexity faster than your tools can absorb it.

From the CEO

Growth is supposed to make things clearer. More revenue, more capacity, better decisions.

In practice, the opposite often happens — at least for a while.

What I see consistently is that growth adds operational complexity faster than most systems are built to handle. Reporting takes longer. Numbers across locations stop matching. The tools your team added to solve one problem quietly create three more.

None of that is unusual. It's what happens when a business scales without managing its systems intentionally.

This month's content reflects that pattern — from the financial side, the IT side, and what it looks like when businesses start closing the gap.

I hope it's useful.

Sincerely,

Mario Nowogrodzki, CPA.CITP

What's New in Intuit Enterprise Suite This Spring

The Spring 2026 IES release is the platform's most substantive update since launch.

Several of the improvements address problems we see regularly in growing businesses — particularly around month-end close, multi-entity reporting, and keeping payroll and HR from running on completely separate systems.

Some of these changes are practical enough that they'll shift how finance teams actually spend their time. Others answer questions that were harder to address a year ago, especially for businesses still deciding whether IES is the right fit.

Worth a read if you're evaluating IES, already on the platform, or managing complexity that your current system isn't handling well.

Shadow IT and Data Governance:

What You May Not Be Tracking

Most businesses have more ungoverned software in their environment than they realize.

It usually starts simply — a department adopts a tool, a workaround becomes standard practice, a subscription gets added outside of IT review. The risk doesn't announce itself. It shows up later, in a compliance gap or a security incident or an infrastructure problem nobody knew was building.

This article explains what shadow IT is, why it tends to be underestimated, and what a governance approach actually looks like for a growing business.

Why Multi-Entity Businesses Lose

Financial Control as They Grow

(And How to Fix It)

If you missed this one live, the recording is available now.

Keith Fileccia (COO, Mendelson Consulting) and Matt Bright (Senior Product Specialist, Intuit) cover why financial visibility tends to get harder — not easier — as you add entities, and what a more structured approach looks like in practice.

Worth watching if you're managing multiple companies or locations and month-end still involves a lot of manual reconciliation.

Final Thought

Control isn't the opposite of growth. It's what makes growth sustainable.

The businesses that scale well aren't the ones that never outgrow their systems — they all do, eventually. What separates them is how quickly they recognize it, and whether they have the right people around them to close the gap before it becomes a real problem.

That's the thread running through everything in this edition. And it's a conversation we're glad to be part of.

Not sure where your systems stand?

Whether it's an IES evaluation, an IT governance concern, or a multi-entity reporting challenge — our team is glad to help you think it through.
