CAPT. Michael Weahkee will speak about the new state-of-the-art
multi-million dollar I
ndian Health Service
hospital that will be constructed
on Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community
land in the next few years.
CAPT. Weahkee received both a Master of Health Services Administration
degree
and a Master of Business Administration degree from
Arizona State University.
He also received a Bachelor of Science in
Health Care Management from
Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL.
CAPT. Weahkee is a Health Services Officer in the United States
Public Health Service,
and he has served as the Chief Executive Officer
of the Phoenix Indian Medical Center
since January, 2014.
He is a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as a
Public Health Specialist and was deployed overseas in support of
Operation Safe Haven to the Republic of Panama.
He is an enrolled member of the Zuni Tribe. CAPT. Weahkee was born in the
IHS hospital in Shiprock, New Mexico and grew up as an active user of the
Indian Health Service health care system.
