New Incentive Structure for 2022
The SoCalREN Multifamily Program will implement a new incentive structure in 2022. This new structure has been developed to pay directly for energy savings and is aligned with industry best practices. Projects with an Incentive Reservation issued on January 1, 2022 or after will be subject to the new incentive structure. Select projects from 2021 that have not completed construction yet will be grandfathered under the 2021 incentive structure. The Multifamily Program Team will provide helpful tools for contractors to calculate estimated incentives for their customers with the new incentive structure.
2022 Incentive Structure
- Properties located in Disadvantaged Communities (DACs) will receive:
- $0.57/kWh and $6.00/therm
- Non-DAC Properties will receive:
- $0.33/kWh and $3.50/therm
2022 Project Eligibility
- The 10 percent energy savings minimum will no longer be required. This requirement will be replaced with a 10,000 kWh OR 1,000 therm energy savings minimum.
- The three-measure minimum requirement will remain.
- The 60 percent and 75 percent of project cost incentive cap for Non-DAC and DAC respectively will remain.
REMINDER: the program is only accepting electric measures for new projects scheduled for completion in 2021. Gas measures will become eligible again for 2022 projects. Any project currently under construction or that has received an Incentive Reservation letter (i.e., Proposed SOW Accepted or Under Construction) is not impacted and shall proceed as approved. Contact your Account Manager if you have questions or need more information.
Last Chance for the Contractor Performance Incentive
Take advantage of the SoCalREN Multifamily Program Contractor Performance Incentive for all projects installed in 2021. Two incentives will be available based on kWh savings achieved. Please see the guidelines below:
-
$25,000 Performance Incentive: The first contractor to achieve 500,000 kWh installed savings through projects that have an Application Received Date of April 20, 2021 or earlier will receive a performance incentive of $25,000. To be eligible, projects must have the IR Approved or be in Final Application Review status as of December 31, 2021.
-
$50,000 Performance Incentive: The first contractor to achieve 500,000 kWh installed savings through projects with an Application Received Date on April 20, 2021 or later will receive a performance incentive of $50,000. To be eligible, projects must have the IR Approved or be in Final Application Review status as of December 31, 2021.
Terms and Conditions
Project(s) must be installed and completed by an active SoCalREN Participating Contractor by December 31, 2021; 2020 projects or projects with 2022 completion dates are not eligible. One of each Performance Incentive is available, and one contractor company can receive both Incentives. Participating Contractors are automatically entered in the contest by submitting projects through the Trade Ally Portal. Project Completion is defined as when project enters the Final Application Review status in the Trade Ally Portal. Recipients will be selected based on Project Completion timestamp from the Program’s Trade Ally Portal. In the event of a tie, the project with the highest therms savings will receive the incentive.
