The New-Indy Catawba mill site originally opened in 1959 and became a New-Indy subsidiary in 2019. It is a world-class paper manufacturing mill located on the Catawba River that makes lightweight linerboard that is important for packaging.

Statement from New-Indy

New-Indy Catawba recently released a statement regarding the allegations made against the mill:

“New-Indy categorically denies the baseless accusations made by trial lawyers claiming the mill is discharging pollutants (dissolved solids, sulfate and organic and inorganic compounds) to the groundwater that flows to the Catawba River. Their lawsuit seeks to turn a profit at the expense of the public good by spreading false, scientifically far-fetched allegations.”

Employee Events

CPR Awareness

New-Indy Catawba conducts an employee wellness event monthly. January’s wellness event was CPR awareness, which was inspired by Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin and the American Heart Association. Hamlin collapsed on the field during an NFL game. He went into cardiac arrest and was administered CPR on the field. His heartbeat was revived thanks to the lifesaving procedure.

New-Indy Catawba employees Mike Boyd and Rick Love practice the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Richburg Job Fair

New-Indy Catawba employees Katie Rash and Chris McRae attended a job fair in Richburg, S.C.

Footprint LLC, a Chester County company specializing in the manufacture of sustainable materials and packaging, is closing its doors after seven years. New-Indy, represented by Katie Rash and Chris McRae, attended a job fair at the plant to help impacted workers find employment. New-Indy is looking for qualified production and maintenance employees.

New-Indy Catawba has been monitoring hydrogen sulfide at the mill and in the community since May 2021. Daily reports are generated by monitors and are posted on www.newindycatawba.com
