Empowering European Wanderlust

China continues its proactive approach to simplify travel procedures and boost tourism by expanding its visa-free entry program to include four additional European countries. Building on the initial introduction of visa-free entry for citizens from seven European nations and Malaysia, China has now widened the scope to include Austria, Belgium, Hungary and Luxembourg. This strategic move highlights China's dedication to fostering international exchanges and advancing high-quality development within the tourism sector.

Eligible citizens can enjoy visa-free entry for up to 15 days under the trial program, slated to remain in effect for one year. This progressive development is anticipated to attract a larger influx of visitors to the country for both tourism and business.

In addition to expanding visa-free entry, China is investing in tourism infrastructures, including technology, travel guides and e-payment systems, to enrich the overall travel experience of adventurers.

New Strategies and Initiatives for Tourism

To further bolster the promotion of tourism development, China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced plans for a month-long nationwide campaign in May centred around China Tourism Day. The campaign aims to support the high-quality development of the tourism industry, promote eco-friendly tourism, and integrate even more cultural elements into the tourism experience. The ministry will highlight six cities with unique specialties and encourage local governments to implement preferential measures to enhance tourism consumption, which includes providing consumable coupons as a form of subsidy for excursions, and organizing free events for the public.
