Get $6,500 to Become a Florida KidCare Back-to-School Partner!

It’s that exciting time of year again! Florida Healthy Kids Corporation is inviting Florida-based non-profits and community organizations to partner with them during the back-to-school season to promote Florida KidCare. Selected partners will receive $6,500 to support outreach efforts statewide.

Organizations must complete training, attend events, share KidCare content, and educate at least 1,000 individuals. All materials and support will be provided. Proposals are due by Wednesday, May 15 at 5 p.m. ET.

FREE Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

Hope for Miami is organizing the Youth Mental Health First Aid curriculum that is an evidence-based approach that teaches youth workers and parents how to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health conditions that affect youth. It is the initial help offered to a person developing a mental health or substance use problem, or experiencing a mental health crisis. This first aid is given until appropriate treatment and support are received or until the crisis resolves.

The Gerber Foundation Pediatric Health Grants

The Gerber Foundation’s mission focuses on infants and young children. Accordingly, in its grants program, priority is given to projects that improve the nutrition, care and development of infants and young children from 0-3 years of age. The Foundation is particularly interested in fresh approaches to solving common, everyday problems or emerging issues within our defined focus area. Projects should focus on issues faced by care providers that, when implemented, will improve the health, nutrition and/or developmental outcomes for infants and young children. The board is particularly looking for practical solutions that can be easily and rapidly implemented on a broad scale with a predictable time frame to clinical application.

The Foundation is looking for projects that will result in ‘new’ information, treatments or tools that will result in a change in practice. The board rarely funds projects that are focused on sharing current information with parents or caregivers (parent or provider educational programs). Deadline to apply is May 15. Apply below:

2025-26 Innovator Grant from The Education Fund

Innovator Grants provide funds to teachers to develop and implement new, instructional projects that motivate and challenge students to learn. Submitted proposals should be innovative, unique classroom projects that enliven and enrich the curriculum. Many past grants have included interdisciplinary, active-learning, hands-on lessons. Others have reinforced learning through simulations or applied school work to real-life situations. Grants range from $300 - $1,000. Deadline to apply is May 16.

Grants in Oral Health from CareQuest

The purpose of this program is to address complex and upstream drivers of oral health disparities by investing strategically and providing collaborative, capacity-building support that leads to healthier communities. There are two funding opportunities: Advancing Equity Through Oral Health Fund and Emergent & Relief Fund. Eligibility is limited to applicants that are United States based and nonprofits, government agencies, or educational/research institutions that are tax exempt. Activities must be provided solely in the United States. Application deadline is May 16.

Assistant Site Director: Responsible for efficiently and effectively delivering programs and services directly affecting Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers, and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community, and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars. 

Summer Instructional Coaches: Summer Instructional Coaches (ICs) are experienced and successful professional educators who provide content specific support for BTM Teaching Fellows throughout the summer and engage fully in the BTM community. ICs dictate the level of academic rigor during Breakthrough Miami’s summer program through their interactions with Teaching Fellows. They effectively communicate content specifics to Teaching Fellows, guide Fellows through effective planning and execution, and hold both Fellows and students to the highest standards. ICs are expected to lead department meetings, visit Fellows’ classes at least twice a week, evaluate lesson plans and curriculum overviews, and meet individually with Fellows regarding their on-going work. Since ICs are the only professional teachers on-site, they are accountable for the quality of instruction students receive, and are responsible for supporting BTM Teaching Fellows through their teaching experiences. This position will begin on June 7, 2025 and will end on August 1, 2025.

Summer Site Coordinators: Summer Site Coordinators (SSCs) are critical members of the summer administrative team and help ensure the smooth and safe operations of the Summer Institute at their assigned site. SSCs train, coordinate and oversee volunteers; supervise the summer food service program for Scholars and staff; order and keep an inventory of program supplies; coordinate general office administration; manage the Scholar drop off and pick up process; and assist with the execution of special events. This position will begin on June 7, 2025 and will end on August 1, 2025.

Summer Assistant Site Directors: Summer Assistant Site Directors (SASDs) work collaboratively with full-time directors at their assigned site to ensure a successful Summer Institute; and work closely with Scholars and their families, as well as Teaching Fellows to ensure their needs are met. SASDs assist with the coordination and management of student attendance and reporting; management of student information in the Breakthrough Miami student database; student discipline and conduct; Teaching Fellow training and professional development; implementation of the Teaching Assistant program; preparation of major events, including Visitors Day, Family Night, and other events as scheduled; and program evaluations during the final ten days of programming. This position will begin on June 7, 2025 and will end on August 1, 2025.
