Welcome Amy West!
LVMont's New Program Coordinator
We are delighted to announce that Amy West will be joining Literacy Volunteers of the Montachusett Area (LVMont) as the new Program Coordinator on January 30!
Amy had been with Literacy Volunteers of Greater Worcester (LVGW) since 2014, first as an ESOL tutor and as the Program Manager since 2016. She is also a certified ESOL and basic literacy trainer for Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts (LVM). With her experience in all aspects of the program, Amy is knowledgeable about the LVM network, provides excellent trainings and delivers high quality support to tutors and students.
Before joining Literacy Volunteers, Amy was an adjunct instructor at Worcester State University, teaching in the English Department as well as teaching writing for non-traditional students through the NextStep Program. She has been an assistant editor at Merriam Webster, a copy editor and proofreader, and a museum educator at Higgins Armory in Worcester.
Amy is currently studying for her M.A. in Applied Linguistics at UMass/Boston and received a B.A. in English from Central Connecticut State University. She was on Worcester's Citywide Parent Planning and Advisory Council, and was the secretary of the Council.
Amy will reach out to you and your student after she gets settled. In the meantime, please stop by to say hello during her office hours: Monday and Wednesday: by appointment; Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m.; Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm; and Friday from 10 am to 5 p.m.
