Greetings!

Residence Life and Housing is committed to providing high-quality amenities to enhance your living experience. We are excited about the newly installed laundry equipment and want to ensure these machines remain in peak condition for everyone’s use. To guarantee the best results for your wardrobe and the longevity of the equipment, we would like to remind you of the importance of proper machine usage.

While it may be tempting to maximize every load, overloading the washing machine often does more harm than good. When the wash tub is overstuffed, detergent and water cannot circulate freely, leading to several significant issues:

  • Incomplete Cleaning: Your laundry will not get as clean if there is no room for water to move around.
  • Equipment Failure: Excess weight causes broken motors, resulting in fewer available units for the community.
  • Safety Risks: Overloading is a known cause of bad smells, smoke, and even the activation of fire alarms.

To ensure your laundry is properly cleaned and the machines remain functional, we ask that you adhere to the following standards for success:

  • Load Loosely: Always place items loosely into the washer to allow for maximum agitation.
  • Observe Fill Limits: Never exceed the third dotted line within the wash tub for top loaders.
  • For front loaders, use the markers labeled inside the door.
  • Consult Signage: Please read the stickers on the machines and the signs on the laundry room walls for specific operating instructions.

If you happen to encounter a machine that is not functioning correctly, please submit a work order immediately by scanning the QR code located directly on the machine. Reporting issues through these codes is the fastest way to get a unit back in service. By following these guidelines and utilizing the reporting system, you help prevent damage to your personal property and ensure a reliable laundry experience for the entire building.
